Grab your blankets and beach chairs, and head out for a night of intergalactic awesomeness.

The City of North Las Vegas is pleased to present a special showing of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and numerous Star Wars-themed family activities as part of the 2016 Tastes, Tunes & 'Tunes series. The free event runs 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, June 10, at City Hall, 2250 Las Vegas Blvd. North, North Las Vegas.

Find out if you have what it takes to become a Jedi knight by participating in a free Jedi training academy. Additionally, members of UNLV’s Society for Lightsaber Duelists will showcase their skills in a duel, and the 501st Legion: Vader's Fist will be onsite for photos.

Come dressed for the occasion as there will be costume contests for children, adults and pets. Awards will be given for the most creative costume and the best overall costume in each division. There also will be free bounce houses and other amusements.

The event will culminate at dusk (about 8:15 p.m.) with the showing of the recently-released "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Bring coolers, picnic baskets and blankets. Please no high-back chairs, tables or umbrellas.
