Assistant Chief Oceguera has 20 years of firefighter experience; two years with the NAS Fallon Fire Department and 18 years with the North Las Vegas Fire Department. Rising quickly through the ranks, he has held the title of Firefighter, Paramedic, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Chief. He possesses a highly diverse educational background, as well as holding an AS Degree in Fire Science, an AA in General Studies, a BS Degree in Fire Administration, a Masters of Public Administration and a Juris Doctorate from the William Boyd School of Law.

Chief Oceguera holds the title of Majority Floor Leader in the Nevada State Assembly. He has been an Assemblyman for the State of Nevada for 8 years, and has chaired both the Transportation Committee and the Committee on Commerce and Labor. Chief Oceguera is affiliated with groups that include International Association of Fire Chiefs, Nevada Fire Chiefs Association, International Association of Firefighters, and The American Heart Association.
